A beautiful Uwharrie Wedding peek!

Recently, a good friend & photographer, Weezie B, asked me to go with her to shoot a small wedding in Uwharrie. I had never actually been to the area, but when we got there, I was blown away! It was a picture perfect setting for a summer wedding. We had a great time, and got some amazing shots from the evening.

After doing a little bit of research, and Ben saying he wanted to go back to the Uwharrie National Forest, I found that there are quite a few things do there! What could be better than a bit a day hiking, and a trip to the local vineyard? The best part is that is only about an hour outside of Greensboro.

Editing this wedding has gotten me so excited for my fall weddings! Take a look below for a glimpse of this Bride & Groom's wonderful day.
 Thanks for checking it out!

¡Feliz CumpleaƱos, Denise!

This past weekend, I was lucky enough to shoot a birthday celebration for Victoria Sanchez's daughter's third Birthday.  It is a tradition in Mexico to have a formal celebration for a child's third birthday. Thank you Victoria, for letting be a part of such a special occasion for Denise, and your family!

The party was held at the Penn House, in Reidsville, N.C. I had arrived about 30 minutes early to check out lighting, and everything was set up beautifully. The next few hours were filled with wonderful celebration.  I enjoyed every minute of getting to know this great family. Here is just a quick peek into the day. Thank you Victoria, for allowing me to take pictures!

Today is actually Denise's birthday, so Happy Birthday, Denise!

Abigail Seymour's ShutterPROS Workshop

Only one word can describe how I felt when I left Hodgin Valley Farm.

  WOW.

I just wanted to get home to tell Ben everything I had learned. I felt like my was head full of all of this vital information I couldn't lose. In case you have no idea what I am talking about (partially because I have really slacked off of the blogging the last two weeks), I was lucky enough to attend Abigail Seymour's ShutterPROS Workshop. This workshop is for aspiring or professional wedding photographers to learn more about the marketing and business aspect, as well as actually shooting a set up wedding.

Abigail Seymour is truly an amazing photographer, and a wonderful teacher! Anyone who can get to chance to do her workshops should sign up for the next one! We even had a perfect couple to shoot. Jennifer Jackson & Craig Garifo. They were the beautiful couple who posed for an engagement and wedding session. They were completely awesome, thank you both once again Jennifer & Craig! Good luck on your upcoming wedding!

                    Our beautiful Bride & Groom-to-be!

Not only was the information more then helpful,  but you really get the chance to get to know so many people just like you, who love doing this for a living. Instead of fearing your competition, you actually get to know them, and learn from one another. I was definitely surrounded by a talented and inspiring group of photographers!

So how did this all come together? Well it wouldn't have without a whole group of vendors willing to help out. Leigh Pearce, owner & wedding planner of Leigh Pearce Weddings handled all of the wedding and design set up. Our "reception" was laid out beautifully with all great details any photographer loves.  Thank you Leigh for all of your hard work, it turned out perfect!

                        Delicious Pies by Iron Hen!

The Workshop was held at Hodgin Valley Farm in Pleasant Garden, North Carolina. It is a great venue for a wedding, as you can tell in the photos! Our food was from the fresh and local Iron Hen! It is located in Greensboro, NC, and serves fresh & local goodness! Boy was it delicious! All of the flowers were from The Farmer's Wife. The birdcage veils the bride changed throughout our shoot are by Renee McCardell, owner of Voulez Veils, as well as McCardell Photography! I wish I knew about these when I got married. Lastly, the attire of the wedding was picked out by Leigh Pearce Weddings, from vintage thrift stores, and Design Archives of Greensboro.

Thanks once again to Abigail, Leigh, and all of the vendors! For more information on ShutterPROS, visit Abigail Seymour's Shuttershops here.

My Best Friend's Wedding

After many years of discussing which guy was the cutest that week, and which guys broke our hearts, my best friend has tied the knot! I must say, she couldn't have found anyone better. Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Jacob Warner, I love you both!

Being Jordan's Matron of Honor meant the world to me, not including getting the chance to host one fun night with some of our best gals! Throughout their wedding weekend, I was able to take a few shots that hopefully Jordan will like!  I enjoyed every minute of being such a big part of the special day.  Here's a peek ..

The ceremony took place at Woodmont United Methodist Church, and the reception was held at Chinqua Penn Plantation,  both located in Reidsville, North Carolina. Everything was picture perfect. Jordan, I hope it was everything you wanted!

Making Improvements!

Bare with us as our website will be down just for a bit!  Don't worry, it will be up and running in no time!

Thank you!

Goldbug Staff photo shoot

So in college, I was determined to become a fashion photographer. It was all I could think about, and all I was interested in doing.  I thought, " After I graduate, I'm going to find a great position, and move to New York City!" Wellll ... reality hit, and so did the economy. It didn't help that my now wonderful husband couldn't have gone with me. So I moved to Raleigh to be close to my Ben, and to work at Goldbug Studio!

Even though I'm in Greensboro now, I still love working with Goldbug. Ashley only sells Goldbug Studio wholesale, but they are currently working on selling other great and unique finds through Folly Store. Folly Store opens certain time during the year at the studio in Raleigh, you can find out more info by visiting the website. She has been selling some amazing jewelry, art, collectibles, as well as some Goldbug product!

Luckily, I went to Raleigh last week to take some staff shots, with the girls decked out in some of the newest jewelry lines Ashley started carrying. Doing shoots like this reminds me how much I love my job. Check out these hot mamas below!

Lastly, here is a shot of some of my favorite people! I miss working with these gals everyday!

See anything you like?! Just visit Goldbug Studio for more information, or make a visit! The store will be open Wednesday through Friday 12-5pm, thru June 25, 2010. After the 25th they will have to dismantle the showroom until Fall. Don't miss out!

Sunday Funday!

This past Sunday, I had a photo shoot with Maddie Bug Baby!!

For those of you who don't know much about this great gig, it is definitely a must see! Maddie Bug Baby is a children's clothing company created by the talented Heather Visaya. They specialize in monogrammed baby & infant clothing and accessories. Heather and her mother have recently started expanding their line with a new clothing line. I must say, no babies for me right now, but they are way too cute. I'll want my children to be sporting these outfits!

So take a look ..

They are also introducing quite a few fourth of July outfits. It's always good to be cute and festive!

For more information on Maddie Bug Baby, visit their Etsy Store, or become a fan on facebook.

Goldbug Studio's Madhatter Event

This past weekend I had a shoot in Raleigh for Goldbug Studio's Mad Hatter Event.  I always enjoy shooting at Goldbug because the setup is so elaborate, and it gets better each time. Even better, Victoria magazine was there to feature the event as well. It's always awesome to get the chance to meet with magazines like that!

There were so many noteworthy collectibles from this event, but one of my all time favorites is the company Mullanuim by Jim & Tori.  Goldbug has a collection of the "song birds". How CUTE are they??! I would love to have those little gems all over my house.  I even watched this little guy walk out of the store not long after the opening.

For all you folks who love a themed party, this was right up your alley. Saturday night was the opening night,  which was full of elaborate costumes, best hat & mask contest, delicious food from Sweet T Cupcakery, and AMAZING vodka iced tea, served by the one and only Mad Hatter himself.

It was definitely an exciting night, for more photos visit my website! If you just love what you see, Goldbug studio will be open for a couple days during the month of June, for more information visit www.goldbugstudio.com

As always, Thanks for checking in!

So I do have an excuse to still look at wedding blogs!

So here I am, doing something I never thought I would do. Number one, I never thought I would start my own company. As I am typing this out, I am thinking to myself "haha, that's funny, my own company." Even more, I didn't think  I would ever "blog".  Don't get me wrong, I LOVE reading blogs. I love looking at all the cute DIY ideas us lucky gals can try at home. I just never considered myself the blogging type.  As crazy as it seems, I am enjoying this whole new world, even though  I might be a little clueless on how to navigate my life right now.

Along with the blogging and company planning, are the weddings. So I really never thought I would have to think another thing about weddings after April 24, 2010 (I love you, Ben!). But here I am,  talking to a client today about shooting her wedding. As that is taking place, I am realizing that weddings could be a big part of my life for quite sometime. I think I'm going to get along with wedding photography. The thought of that excites me. I hope that I can make such an impact, as my photographer had on my wedding day.

So after two paragraphs of babbling, and no clear point, I want to leave you some sweet favorites of my own. For all of your super crafty brides, be sure to check out 100 Layer Cake, and I-Do-it yourself. I mean how can you not love a site that starts with I DO, when you want the most adorable invitation on a budget?!

100 Layer Cake is great because it features couples' weddings, along with DIY ideas. All of the weddings are so unique. IDIY, on the other hand is more about tutorials, FREE templates (yes, I said free!), tips, and much more.

Blogging for Company!

Any block printing lovers out there?! Well then this is the post you for!

These are just a few examples of the alphabet letters. All letters are printed on vintage book pages. They look awesome framed on wall, or spelled out for a holiday. I was lucky enough to have a ribbon banner of "Anna ♥ Ben" hanging above my cake at our wedding. They also look great in a child's room.

I have been working with two wonderful girls, Kacie Rushton, and Joanna Stocking to create the ABCs! We split up the alphabet between the three of us and designed the letters. Designing this was a great process, and I'm just lucky to have to great friends to work with. These letters can be found on Kacie's etsy page here.

While you are there, don't miss out on Kacie's Heirloom Journals. All journals are made from old books, and then hand bound with blank paper. The inside of each journal is lined with vintage wallpaper.  Kacie really searches for her books, so don't miss out on a treasure like this!

If you live in the Triangle, check out Heirloom Journals at the Handmade Market, May 1st at Marbles Kids Museum. More info at www.thehandmademarket.com . It is a great chance to buy art locally and have a good time!

You can find me in Barnes & Noble!

Very exciting times ahead! The studio I worked for in Raleigh, Goldbug Studio, was featured in Where Women Create, the book! Many might not know much about this book, so if you interested in it, check it out here. They mostly feature female artists and their studios. I love looking at other artist's studios, so it seems awesome to me.

So what is even better than having the studio you work for featured in a book!? Having the book use some of your photos! That's right! This issue of Where Women Create just hit the stores.  Ashley, the owner of Goldbug sent me an email with the article not too long ago informing me that they used some of my work. I was so excited, I just thought I had to share. Take a look at the article below!
